Vintage Clear Stamp Set - Birthday Wishes

This sweet vintage girl image is perfect for coloring.

{*UPDATED 8/27/2014*}
This clear stamp set is available
at stampindamour.com

She is hugging a pail...so cute!

You might need some Happy Birthday greetings...vintage-style, of course!

What type of paper should I use for a stamp?

To check out the results for myself, I printed a copy on regular Office Max everyday paper with a laser printer and a copy with Neenah Solar White cardstock with an ink jet printer {printer settings on greeting card}....

Obviously, the regular paper is no match against the Neenah cardstock...for coloring.

Plus, it didn't seem really ideal to use with Copic markers on regular paper - it was difficult to blend and the paper absorbed the ink...as you can see it soaks right through the paper...although, it looks like a nice watercolor painting on the back.

You might be asking,
"Why didn't you run the cardstock through your laser printer?"

My laser printer doesn't seem to like thicker paper.
The ink jet printer handled it well.
No smudging from the Copic markers using an ink jet printer.

This Crate paper would be cute to use...so many pretty paper choices.

Maybe, I'll add a tiny party hat...

And add a "Happy Birthday" greeting...
(printed on regular paper, since I wasn't coloring it).

What type of paper and printer do you typically
use for printing digital stamps for a project?

What is your medium of choice?
(pencils, Copics, SU, or Tombow, etc.)

  1. Your card is absolutely GORGEOUS!! That's one of my favorite paper collections! I just love these sweet little images and your addition of a party hat is just too fun! I actually haven't used a digital image yet and I can't wait to try it! I recently got ink for my printer...after being out FOREVER!! lol I use Prisma pencils and odorless mineral spirits to color. I just have to find time SOON create. I'll let you know as soon as I have. Thanks so much for popping in at my blog!...Nancy :o)

  2. Very informative - I am still struggling with paper choices - I received my Gina K luxury white cardstock 120lb in yesterdays mail - the colors on the Copic markers are great - and soooo smooth - then I tried my Stampin up markers - and it was the best I have used on those. I also have Neenah solar white 110 lb - it is incredible cardstock - but absorbs the inks too much - it does go right through my ink jet with no problem though

  5. WOW!!! Thanks for being so amazingly generous!!!! I'm really new to this digi world & appreciate the info about the paper tests, etc. So far I've been using a paper made by HP called "brochure paper" & it's made for laser printers (though I'm using it in my ink jet printer!)...using it with both my Copics & the Prisma colored pencils (with gamsol) & have been really, really happy with the results!! Hope this info helps someone!

  6. Thanks for the awesome image! It is wonderful!
I've been using my copics on a Hammermill Premium Inkjet 24# paper which I run thru my inkjet or laser printers. Both with quite a bit of good luck -I also use a copic marker paper pad which runs thru either printer.

  13. thanks for your generosity in sharing such beautiful images and sentiments. I shall certainly look forwards to using some in my own creations.

Your card is gorgeous, beautiful colouring and just adore that party hat!!

I use a mixture of papers, watercolour and blending paper - but really too new to this 'artform' to seriously offer any opinions. I enjoyed reading yours though, shall help me no doubt, but not sure if I can get that paper here in Australia. Will search!

  16. Thanks for sharing the Birthday Sentiments, Pamela!

I use either Gina K Luxury or Stampin' Up! in my printer. I mostly color with Copics or Prisma pencils and baby oil.

  17. Thank you for the interesting comparison of printing and colouring on the different papers. In all, I suppose the less the ink bleeds through to the back, the less ink you use overall, which makes your markers last longer - meaning that it makes sense to spend a bit more on quality paperstock - plus it is less likely to bleed sideways too meaning there is a better clarity in the colouring.

I use something I bought from a paper merchant at a show here in the UK. I asked him for something like 'supersmooth' and it really is superb - I haven't used regular copy paper for a while now instead using a better quality one for printing out my digital papers - its amazing to see the difference.

Thanks for sharing this 'experiment' with us - btw, I loved the finished card.
